Dr. Ali is actively working, as Principal Investigator, in various AICTE, IEEE-USA, Jamia Millia Islamia, UGC and DST funded research and development activities in areas of Power Systems Operation & Control more specifically in Smart Grid, Substation Communication Network, IEC61850 based systems and Smart Grid Real Time Digital Simulation studies. He has been awarded a prestigious DST (GoI) FIST Grant of Rs. 2.03 Crores, as DST FIST Program Coordinator, for developing research facilities in the area of Smart Grid in the Department of Electrical Engineering. His research work regularly gets published in reputed Journals/International Conferences of IEEE, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Springer etc. He is the Coordinator of SCADA & Smart Grid RTDS Research Lab as well as the Coordinator and Subject Expert for the training programme for POSOCO Ltd. engineers on the SCADA systems for which an MoU has been signed between POSOCO Ltd. and JMI, New Delhi.
