About GATI:

Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) is an innovative Pilot Project Supported and Implemented by Women In Science & Engineering (WISE)- KIRAN Programme Division, Department of Science & Technology (DST), for advancing Gender Equity in the scientific institutions of higher education and research.

The GATI project draws inspiration from the Athena SWAN Gender Equality Charter and accreditation framework operated by Advance HE, UK, since 2005. The programme is being undertaken by DST in partnership with British Council. It aspires to create an enabling environment for equal participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics (STEMM) disciplines at all levels. The Project is awarded to 30 higher education STEMM institutions in India and JMI is partnered with Queen Marry University of London.

AIM: To achieve gender equality and empower women and girls in STEMM. GATI seeks to bring about institutional reforms to facilitate women in STEMM at all level.

The GATI Charter is based on ten key principles, JMI is a signatory to the Charter. We believe that it is a moral imperative for all institutions to provide equal opportunity to all, and in particular, women from STEMM.

GATI leadership team at JMI consists of Vice Chancellor as PI and the GATI Self-Assessment Team (GSAT).
