Prof. (Dr.) Debarshi Mukherjee is an alumnus of Visva Bharati, Santiniketan (an Institution of National Importance and a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. He serves as a Professor in the Department of Commerce & Business Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He is a Peer Team Member of the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru, and a visiting consultant to the Department of Panchayats & Rural Development, Government of Tripura. Previously, he held the position of Full Professor and Head (for two consecutive terms) of the Department of Business Management at Tripura University (a Central University) and was the founding head-in-charge of the Department of Tourism Administration. Additionally, he was a member of the Court of Tripura University. He established Tripura’s first business incubator, which is fully funded by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India. He also served as the State Coordinator of the AICTE-sponsored Student Induction Programme for Tripura and has been nominated as a Mentor by AICTE for newly inducted technical education teachers, as well as an expert for AICTE’s NEAT 2.0 initiative. His research interests lie in the development of blended learning models to achieve the objectives of Education 4.0 and ICT intervention in tertiary education, with a focus on ensuring learning continuity in the information systems domain. Beyond teaching and academic administration, he has extensive experience in curricula design and innovative andragogy development over the past two decades. He holds two patents: an innovation patent on a utility model titled “An adaptive message and student online learning system” from the Federal Republic of Germany, and a second IPR titled “Learner Matrix for Learning Continuity” registered with the Registrar of Copyrights, Copyright Office, Government of India. His research has resulted in over 100 publications. He has worked on numerous projects sponsored by NABARD and ICSSR, and has provided consultancy services for clients such as Manipal Global Education Services. He has delivered over 150 invited talks and chaired technical sessions at various esteemed conclaves, including IIT BHU, Delhi University, NIPER Hyderabad, Dhaka University (Bangladesh), Mirwais Neeka University (Afghanistan), the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura, Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, Government College Hosangabad, Madhya Pradesh,  and ICBT 2021 in Istanbul, Turkey. Furthermore, he has served as a trainer for the NAMCABS & ADEPT programme of the Reserve Bank of India, Agartala. He has supervised ten doctoral students, including one international scholar. Additionally, he has conducted numerous leadership and motivational sessions for management students and faculty at various institutions, including those sponsored by NCERT, AICTE, and MMTTC, through faculty development programmes and refresher courses. His expertise has been featured in radio and television debates across Tripura, Bangladesh, and the United States. He is a regular contributor to newspapers and news portals on contemporary issues. He has been appointed as an Expert for Research Project Evaluation for the year 2022-23 by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, and has served as a Drafting Committee Member for the preparation of the Vision Document 2047 for the Government of Tripura. Additionally, he has counselled the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, on the development of skill-based training modules aimed at promoting tourism in the state.

He has recently published a book titled "Rural Livelihood Development in Tripura: An MGNREGS Experience" (adopted as a reference book in the MSW programme at Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, a NAAC A++ accredited state university), as well as an edited volume entitled "PURVOTTARAN – THE RISE OF NORTH EAST: Paradigms of Development in the VUCA World," published by Bloomsbury, with the foreword penned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the Government of Tripura. His most recent publication, "Exploring Social Intelligence in the New Education Policy 2020," was released in March 2024.
