Shaibani Azam joined the AJKMCRC as the Professor, Digital Graphics and Animation in 2009. With over twenty years of experience in the visual effects and 3D animation industry in India, she has a BFA in painting from M.S.U., Baroda and an M. Des in Visual Communication from the IDC, IIT, Bombay.
The first Indian animator to train at Softimage, Montreal and Milan in 1991, she has worked as a hands-on artist/animator, compositor, special effects supervisor and animation director for leading producers of advertising and feature film in Bombay during her terms with BUSH FX, UTV and Magikraft.
She has founded and run a visual effects facility in partnership with Suresh Productions, a leading feature film producer in Hyderabad. This was followed by a long stint as Creative Director-3D at Jadooworks, Bangalore where she directed animation for several ad films and international pilots and set up a team of 150 to work on the outsourced production of the Disney Playhouse series, ’Higglytown Heroes’.
From 1990 to 2001, along with her various teams, she has won several Indian film and advertising industry awards like the FICCI-BAF award, the IAAFA and A & M awards for excellence in special effects and animation.
She moved to the AJK MCRC from NIIT Ltd., New Delhi where she had designed a syllabus for short-term courses in Animation.
