Mohammad Sohrab is a faculty at the Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (Muslim National University), New Delhi. He holds M. Phil and PhD degrees in West Asian (Middle Eastern) studies, from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He did his graduation and master degrees from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Since then, Aligarh Muslim University has been functioning as the beacon light for him. 

He is a Sociologist by training. His academic persona, intellectual orientation and world views are grounded in the epistemology of sociology and anthropology. The core areas of his specializations are West Asia and North Africa (WANA) and South West Asia based on holistic approach. Other vital components of his specializations are Identity Politics, Politics and Religion, Multiculturalism, Public Diplomacy & Muslim World Affairs.

He teaches at the Master and M. Phil levels and supervises M. Phil and PhD research works.  He also pursues independent research works. 

He has published a book on Saudi Arabia and a monograph on the Kurdish question in Turkey. He has contributed number of chapters in the edited books and has published articles in reputed journals.
