Introduction

Brief History

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (KAUSHAL) Kendra was established in Jarnia Millia lslamia in 2015 with an objective to create employable, skilled technical health workers. The B.Voc./ Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.Voc. MLS) and B.Voc. Medical Electrophysiology (B.Voc. MEP) courses were started ln DDU KAUSHAT Kendra in line with the Skill India Programme initiated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.
The B.Voc. MLS and B.Voc, MEP courses are UGC approved, regular, full time, credit based, three years degree courses equivalent to NSQF level 7. Teaching, practicals, evaluative clinical training and lnternship in hospitals, blood banks and hospital based and stand-alone medical laboratories are included as per recommendation by the UGC.
Comprehensive coverage of theoretical aspect of all the subjects, extensive self-practice during practicals and hands-on training during the clinical postings are the highlights of these programmes. Skill based education makes our students highly employable. Employment rate as high as90o/o has been achieved in the previous batches. Remaining 10% of the students opted for higher studies in India and abroad.

Employment prospects

After completing the B.Voc MLS course, the technical graduate is eligible to be employed as medical phlebotomist, Medical laboratory technician, Project technicians, Blood Bank technician, Histopathology technician, Quality Assurance supervisor, Laboratory manager etc. After completing the B.Voc. B.Sc. MEP course, the technical graduate can be employed as a technician of ECG, TMT, ECHO, Holter monitoring, Bedside cardiac monitoring PFT etc in Cardiology Lab and as EEG, NCV, EMG, Sleep studies or Evoked potential technician in the Neurology Lab.

Employment prospects

The B.Voc graduates may also opt for higher studies after completion of these degree courses, They can pursue M.Sc. in Cardiological Nursing, Neurosciences, Biochemistry Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Human Physiology, Medical Physiology, Medical laboratory Technology, Medical Genetics, Forensic Sciences, Clinical Research, Public Health , Electrophysiology etc. The B.Voc. graduates can also pursue PG diplomas in subjects like Molecular Diagnostics, Blood Banking Techniques, Clinical Cardiology, Cardio-Respiratory Care Management, Cardiopulmonary Perfusion Technology etc.
