Dr. Syed Akhtar Imam received the Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, M. Tech degree (Instrumentation and Control System) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and Ph.D. degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), New Delhi, in 1990, 1998, and 2008, respectively.
Since 1990, he has been part of Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. Presently he is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He worked as Supervisor at Electrical Maintenance Division, PWD, Lucknow, (U.P.) before joining Jamia Millia Islamia University. His research interests include Sensing Technologies, Electrical, Electronic and Bioinstrumentation, Wireless Sensor Networks and Digital Circuits.
He has published more than 37 research papers in journals of repute and 50 research papers in National/International conferences. In addition he has participated and presented 25 research papers in National / International refereed conferences in India and abroad. He has authored Four Chapters each in the book entitled ‘Basic Electronics’ and ‘Digital Electronics and Microprocessor’ published by Arjun Singh Centre for Distance and Open Learning, JMI, New Delhi. He serves as reviewer (on invitation from Editor) for Invertis Journal of Science and Technology, KIET International Journal on Communications and Electronics and others.
He has established and developed experimental setup of two Laboratories in the department namely “Electronic Measurement & Instrumentation Lab” and Transducer and Sensor Lab. He has completed a research project entitled “Design and Analysis of Energy Efficient Communication Methods for Wireless Sensor Networks” under Innovative Research Activities, UGC.
He has given many invited technical talks. He has also delivered invited lectures in various continuous education programs pertaining to the field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. He has guided more than 80 undergraduate projects and 10 research projects of Ph.D. scholars in the area of sensing technology and wireless sensor networks and its applications till date.
He is a life member of Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), International Society of Research and Development (ISRD) and member of many other prestigious societies.
