Screening of documentary film A Measure of Impunity at Jamia on September 14, 2011 at 2.30 PM (Publish Date: 12/09/2011)

The Centre for North East Studies at MMA Jauhar Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a special screening of a documentary film ‘A Measure of Impunity’ at Jamia Millia Islamia on September 14, 2011 at 2.30 PM at the Auditorium of FTK Centre for Information Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia.

The film has been directed by Maulee Senapati and produced & scripted by Prof. Sanjoy Hazarika, who is Saifuddin Kitchlew Chair and Director of the Centre for North East Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia. The film grew out of a year long project which focussed on the impact of conflict on women in Nagaland and Assam.

In graphic and moving terms, the 50-minute film documents the stories of women and their families who have suffered in the decades of conflicts.

The film is part of a larger project, ‘Bearing Witness: The Impact of Conflict on Women in Nagaland and Assam’, which sought to place these issues in the larger context of the challenges of nation-building, the enduring issues of human rights and their violations, enshrined in ‘national security’ laws which have been opposed for over 50 years. Regional growth and the failure of stakeholders and non-State groups to address these concerns are also reviewed.

All are cordially invited.
