Press Release: Jamia alumni bag National Film Awards
It is a matter of great pride and pleasure for Jamia Millia Islamia that the documentary film Something is in the Air by a former student of the university Iram Ghufran has won the National Award for Best Direction and Best Editing in the Non-Feature Section of the recently announced National Film Awards.
The documentary Something is in the Air is about a shrine where large numbers of women pray to rid themselves of their inner demons.
Ms. Iram Ghufran did her MA (Mass Communication) from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia in the year 2003. The same documentary film by her was shown to the applicants of the MA (Mass Communication) course during the Admission Tests of 2011.
Ms. Aparna Sanyal, also an alumnus of M.A. (Mass Communication) has won the National Award for Best Educational Film for her documentary A Drop of Sunshine which is a moving portrait of a young woman suffering from schizophrenia.
Both films have been produced by the Public Broadcasting Trust (PSBT) which has a history of producing a number of excellent films by Jamia Alumni.
Jamia Millia Islamia congratulates them on their achievements and wishes them a bright future ahead.
