Prof. Naazish Husaini is currently Officiating Director at AJKMCRC, she is an eminent television professional. She completed her M. Phil. in 1973, after securing first place in her Masters in Science. With Junior and Senior Fellowships from CSIR under her belt, she went on for professional training at the prestigious FTII, Pune and NHK, Japan. Later, she received commonwealth bursary for studying trends of broadcasting in the UK.
Prof. Nazish Husaini has been working in television for over two decades as a broadcaster and director/producer. Having begun at UNICEF, she soon joined Doordarshan as Science Producer in 1975. She supervised as director the onset of DD Metro, an entertainment channel that enjoyed commercial success in the face of stiff challenge from private channels. She also worked as joint director UGC for educational programs, and was recognized as the key person responsible for launching "Countrywide Classroom Programmes."
In 1997, she joined Star Plus as Senior Vice President Programming, responsible for the Content and promotion of the Channel. Last 5 years she has produced /creative/executive director of a serial on Doordarshan. Her documentary made for Asian development bank was showcased for Haward faculty recently .
From Public Broadcasting to Satellite Channels, Naazish has been an accomplished television professional. She has produced/directed several landmark films and television programs, including the historic television event of Captain Rakesh Sharma talking with Mrs. Indira Gandhi from space. She was the Executive Producer for UGC-WBGH Co-production "Race to Save the Planet" anchored by Meryl Streep, & for the series "Living on the Edge". She was also the Cultural Consultant for Wisconsin University's Project "Islamic culture in India"& media consultant for TA project of ADB.
She has received numerous accolades for her works at international platforms. She received two UNESCO Awards - "Prix Jules Verne" and "Prix Magazine" in 1994 and 1995 during 11th and 12th International Science Television Festivals in Paris. As Director of series "Turning Point", she also received the National Award for Best Science Television Programme. The Former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam mentioned the show as a Landmark Programme in Science Communication. Prof. Yashpal and Dr. Rahul Pal wrote a book entitled "Discovered Questions", based on program "Turning point"
She served as a member of Jury for different National Awards including Asian Television Awards, Singapore.
