Pragati Bhalla is currently an Assistant Professor at Anwar Jamal Kidwai (AJK) Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. She teaches Development Communication, Street Theatre, Acting and Research Methodology. She joined the centre as a Lecturer in 2010. Besides teaching she is actively involved with the coordination of the course activities.
She had undergone a course “American families and Community lifestyles” from School of Human Ecology at Michigan State University. She completed her Master’s of Science degree in Development Communication and Extension from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University. During her masters she worked as a Research Associate with UNFPA in developing ICT material for adolescents to educate them about life skills. She also worked as a Life Skill trainer for various development organizations.
Soon after completing her masters she worked with NIIT Ltd in the Career Development Centre in liaison with Aga Khan Foundation. She is also credited for stimulating young minds by developing sensitivity towards social issues through the medium of Street theatre and communication. Being a theatre enthuastic she has coordinated several theatre festivals. She has also presented her work at National and International Forums. Her area of research includes Street Theatre, Social marketing, Advocacy, Participatory communication and Alternative Media etc.
