Press Release: Surprise Check Late Night at Jamia Hostel

A Surprise Check by Provost and Proctor was conducted in Allama Iqbal
hostel, Hall of Boys’ Residence, Jamia Millia Islamia on 03.02.2012 at
12.45 a.m. by a team consisting of the Provost, Hall of Boys’
Residence and Wardens along with Proctor and Asstt. Proctors. This is
a routine exercise which is conducted by the university to ensure that
no unwanted elements are staying illegally on campus.

Seven unauthorized people were found staying illegally with the
residents in the hostel in violation of the hostel guidelines/
university rules & regulations. 3 of these were complete outsiders who
are not even part of the university system at Jamia Millia Islamia.

The unauthorized persons have been handed over to the police by the
university. Disciplinary proceedings against the students and the
residents who were harbouring them has been initiated as per
university rules.
