Press Release: Nasreen Munni Kabir to speak on “Chronicling Indian Cinema” at Jamia
 
 
The AJK-Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize its Annual Anwar Jamal Kidwai Memorial Lecture on “Chronicling Indian Cinema: Creating an Archive for the Future” by Nasreen Munni Kabir.
 
Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia shall preside over the function.
 
Nasreen Munni Kabir is an acclaimed UK based documentary filmmaker and the author of eleven books on Hindi cinema. Her television programmes, made for Channel 4 TV, UK include the series Movie MahalIn Search of Guru DuttFollow that Star-profile of Amitabh Bachchan and the two part programme, The Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan. She had also directed a profile on Bismallah Khan and the making of “Bombay Dreams”, the musical produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber for BBC Television. Her books and interviews comprise an extensive archive on Bombay cinema that not only preserves its legacy for posterity but has been instrumental in creating an international awareness about the Indian Cinema.
 
The Lecture is scheduled to be held on January 30, 2012 at 2.30 PM in the Conference Hall of FTK-Centre for Information Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia.
