Press Release: International Seminar on “The Arab Spring: Region and India” at Jamia
 
The Centre for West Asian Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a three-day International Seminar on “The Arab Spring: Region and India” in the Conference Hall of FTK-Centre for Information Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia. The Inaugural-cum-Plenary Session is scheduled to be held on February 15, 2012 from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM.
 
Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, JMI will deliver his Inaugural Remarks in the Inaugural Function. Ambassador M.K. Bhadrakumar will deliver the Key-note Address.
 
H.E. Dr. Burak Akcapar, Ambassador of Republic of Turkey to India, H.E. Dr. S. Mehdi Nabi Zadeh, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to India and H.E. Khaled El Bakly, Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt to India shall be the Guest of Honour in the Inaugural Session.
 
H.E. Ambassador Chinmaya R Gharekhan, President, India Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi and Former Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of India to West Asia shall be the Chief Guest and he will deliver the Inaugural Address in the function.
 
The seminar is spread across ten technical sessions on the relevant topics of the seminar that seeks to discuss various aspects of Arab Spring and its future implications for the world, the region and India. From this point of view the conference will have the following sub-themes on which discussions will take place:

11.15 AM to 12.30 PM Arab Spring: Linkage Between Islam, Civil Society and Democracy
12.30 PM to 01.00 PM  Arab Spring: Bahrain
02.00 PM to 05.30 PM Arab Spring: Response of Global and Regional Powers

The seminar is expected to be attended by a large number of academicians, bureaucrats, research scholars, experts, from India and abroad particularly from gulf countries.
