Press Release: Former NCERT Director Krishna Kumar to deliver the K R Narayanan Memorial Lecture at Jamia

Dr. K.R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit & Minorities Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize the 5^th Dr. K.R. Narayanan Memorial Lecture on “Justice in Teaching” by Professor Krishna Kumar, Department of Education, University of Delhi and Former Director, NCERT (2004-10).

Professor Krishna Kumar has also been conferred with Padma Shree for his contributions to the field of education.

Prof Kumar has delivered several memorial lectures including the Gladwyn lecture in the House of Lords. In 2011 he was awarded an honorary D.Litt. in Education by the Institute of Education, University of London.

The annual Dr. K.R. Narayanan Memorial Lecture had been initiated to honour the memory of the person in whose name the Centre has been established. These lectures also provide the centre the opportunity to revisit issues that have been close to the heart of the Late President.

Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia will Chair the Lecture.

The Lecture is scheduled to be held on February 8, 2012 at 3 PM in the Edward Said Hall, Administrative Block, Jamia Millia Islamia.
