Press Release: A National Seminar on ‘Securing Group Rights: Human Rights Experiences from Asia and Africa’ at Jamia
The Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar-Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with Policy Research Institute of African Studies Association of India is going to organize a two-day National Seminar on ‘Securing Group Rights: Human Rights Experiences from Asia and Africa’ on February 7-8, 2012.
Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia shall inaugurate the conference on February 7, 2012 at 10 AM in the Conference Room of Indo-Arab Cultural Centre, JMI.
Scholars of International Law/Relations, Political Science, Area Studies and other related disciplines, practitioners of international law, official/experts of human rights working with governmental and non-governmental organizations are expected to attend the seminar and discuss the issues, challenges and impediments relating to securing cultural as well as group rights especially in Asia and Africa.
The seminar will primarily focus on the following themes:
- Issues of Group Rights and Human Rights;
- Human Rights and Human Development;
- Globalisation and Group Rights;
- Socio-economic and Cultural Rights;
- Rights of Minorities – Religious, Linguistic, Ethnic;
- Rights of Indigenous people, Marginalised groups like Dalits, Tribal groups;
- Rights of Women;
- Rights of Children;
- Rights of Migrants and Diaspora Communities;
