Welcome message of VC

Najeeb Jung
Vice-Chancellor

Jamia Millia Islamia derives its name from Urdu language in which Jamia means University and Millia means National. This University, born off the Indian National Movement and patriotic fervour, was founded in response to a call  by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920 to boycott the Government-supported institutions. The story of Jamia is that of commitment and sacrifices by its founders. The University has many centres of learning right from nursery schools to faculties and research centres. It strives to maintain the standards of excellence in teaching and research.

The Website of Jamia, developed by the Computer Centre of the University, aims to bring the local, national and international communities together. It provides detailed information about   Jamia Millia Islamia, its school-level, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, research programmes and other academic and extra-curricular activities.

I welcome you on the World-Wide-Web and hope that your association with the University will be enjoyable and beneficial.
